I’m having a baby!

I’m so excited to share with you that my husband and I are having a baby! My due date is March 4th, 2015.

The past couple of weeks have been quite a journey. While it was something I was planning for, the moment I found out I was pregnant, I knew my life was going to change forever.

I was filled with a range of emotions from excitement and joy to fear and uncertainty. My life as I know it, my body as I know it, my marriage as I know it, etc., is changing. Since my job as a coach is to support people through change, I know I will be learning even more about the change process in a new way.

I had days where I felt the utmost exhausted I have ever felt and found myself nauseous and running to the toilet a few times even after a good meal. Dealing with the physical symptoms of pregnancy started to effect me emotionally. I started to sink into fear and doubt, “Can I really handle this?” “Is now really the best time?” “What is going to happen to my career?”

These questions, I believe are natural when going through big life changes. I was able to just observe myself slipping into fear and reminded that myself discomfort is often part of the journey. I recognized the voice of doubt and began to work with it. Whenever I get into these states, I always listen to inspirational videos on youtube, audiobooks on my iPhone and sit down to meditate. Every time it reconnects me to faith.

I have been going to prenatal yoga classes, keeping up with my meditation classes and got rid of my last vice: coffee. I’ve been drinking lots of water and taking my prenatal vitamins. Luckily, I have been able to rest quite a bit, especially since my body is working so hard! I heard the second trimester (which I just entered) is a bit easier. It’s even nicknamed the “honeymoon trimester.”

Last week, I got a sonogram and it was a miracle. As soon as the nurse put her little tool on my lower belly, a full baby appeared on the screen! I was in awe. All the parts are there: head, nose, ears, hands, feet, legs, brain, etc. We even got to hear the heart beat! I felt myself opening up to even greater love.

Sometimes we feel ourselves going through changes, but don’t see the results right away. Then, when we do, it’s amazing!
