Overthinking: do you ever feel consumed by the voice in your head?
It can grip you and have you feeling like you are spiraling out of control with your thoughts…
Here are 9 ways overthinking shows up:
- Questioning or doubting yourself
“Did I make the right choice? What if I make the wrong decision?”
- Fear and worry
Playing out situations that might go wrong, feeling afraid to make a mistake, fail or do something that could have negative consequences.
- Confusion
A part of you is telling you to do one thing and another part of you is telling you to do something else. These two viewpoints are conflicting.
- Indecision
Feelings of uncertainty hold you back from making choices.
- Not taking action
Overthinking can make it seem like you are accomplishing a lot when you are really just recycling similar thoughts over and over again.
- Constantly complaining
Telling others about what you don’t like or don’t have. Feeling disappointed or misunderstood often.
- Beating yourself up
Critiquing and criticizing yourself. Negative self-talk.
- Perfectionism
Over-analyzing everything and wanting it to be perfect and it slows down your productivity.
- Ignoring your instincts
Maybe you feel a little nudge or hear a whisper from your heart but ignore it and rationalize.
You and I both know that life isn’t always peaches and rainbows, but overthinking only makes it more difficult to enjoy life and to take action towards your true desires. Your mind is the most powerful tool you have and when you learn strategies to improve your mind, you can transform your life.
