Stop Worrying, Start Enjoying!

Last week I led my first Free Call: Transforming Fear into Faith: 3 Key Strategies to Move from Anxiety to Excitement. I have to be honest, I was battling some of my own fears doing something new for the first time.

Why?

Because the truth is, any time we do something new, we get fearful. The key is to not let fear get the best of you- or me. I ended up making a mistake and sent the wrong number out to those who had signed up for the call. I had a flood of emails come in at 8pm saying people couldn’t get through. One of my biggest fears, is letting people down – especially when it comes to doing business. I know I can’t make everyone “happy” but I always do my best! Luckily, I was able to quickly recover and send an email blast with the correct number. Most people called in again with the correct number.

If you’re anything like me, you hate to mess up. A very important lesson I learned is to own it and take action immediately. This is a very important lesson not only being an entrepreneur, but I think it’s an important lesson in life; to learn how to PIVOT.

It’s inevitable that we will make mistakes from time to time, but how quickly can you recover? Keeping your cool when the pressure is high is a skill you can improve. Pivoting comes when you are able to “think on your feet” and are totally present. You don’t beat yourself up. Instead you stay focused on the goal. It’s a skill that is so useful – especially when things go wrong. 

I used to worry all the time about things going wrong. What direction is my career going? Will I ever have a boyfriend? How will I make a living having my own business? What if I end up on the street? You name it, I would think about the worst case scenario all the time. My mind was out of control. As you can probably guess, I was feeling pretty unhappy and stuck in my life.

It wasn’t until I learned tools to combat worry, fear and doubt that my life changed. I worked on my mind, my thoughts, my confidence, and took massive action. Not only do I have those things I once worried about (career direction, marriage, financial stability, etc.) but I am able to really enjoy my life.
